The Electric Bike is better described as a power assisted bicycle; using human and electric motor power. The electric drive system is designed to be near-maintenance free and the rest is a quality bicycle with replaceable bicycle parts. These models have nearly all the same features as electric mopeds, yet they are about one-third of the cost.
The law regards the 'electric-assisted' (Washington) or 'motorized bicycle' (California) as a non-motorized vehicle and as a bicycle. Laws in other states and local ordinances are similar. Federal law PL107-319 in the U.S. defines the electric-assisted bicycle as a non-motorized vehicle (i.e. bicycle) and places it under the jurisdiction of the Consumer Protection Commission (rather than DOT).

You can find Electric Scooters in almost every town in America. E-scooters work like regular scooters, but are a power assisted vehicle. Kids love racing up and down the street on escooters. Larger model electric powered scooters can be used to commute to work or running errands. Students ride electric scooters on campus. Models like the X-010 and X-140 are a great low speed electric powered scooter for kids.
